When recurring payments are authorized by the consumer, several payment types have regulations that require the recurring payment plan be provided to the consumer. The consumer must be provided with a document disclosing the payment plan. This signed copy must be returned and on file prior to processing successive payments. Typically, in the past this process was executed using the US Postal Service. Today, with the introduction of e-Sign, this task can be done in hours rather than days. The agent application that schedules the payments as requested by the consumer is inserted into a document, uploaded to a site where the consumer can review, sign, and return the document. The payment system ensures that the next payment is not processed until the document is signed by the consumer.
